Planning/Zoning FAQ

Are my setbacks different if I'm on a corner lot?
Yes, all corner lots and through lots shall be deemed to have two front yards and shall thus be subject to the front yard setback requirements for both parcel perimeters fronting on a public roadway. If you still have question contact the Zoning Administrator.

Can I have as many accessory buildings, such as a shed, on my property as I want?
No, you have to comply with the percentage of lot coverage per parcel, which dictates size.

Can I request a special meeting for another date?
Yes, but the cost for a special meeting is $1,500.00 besides the regular fees. The Township would still need time to publich the legal in the newspaper and send out letters to people within the 300ft range if applicable.

Do I need a fence permit and can the fence be six feet high?
You do not need a fence permit but you do need to follow the regulations outlined in the fence ordinance. In residential districts, a fence cannot exceed six feet in height in the side or rear yard and can not exceed four feet in the front yard.

How do I go about getting on a planning or zoning board of appeals meeting?
In order to be put on the agenda for site plan, rezone, variance to an ordinance, etc., you must submit the proper paperwork, application, and fees at least thirty days prior to the month meeting. The Planning Commission generally meets on the second Monday of each month and the Zoning Board of Appeals generally meets on the first Monday of each month. Please check the meeting dates and times under the Board/Commission link.
